On Christmas Day, the Franciscan community and hundreds of pilgrims gathered at the Shepherds’ Field to commemorate the angel’s announcement of the birth of the Savior.
In the afternoon of December 25, a crowd of pilgrims visited the Shepherds’ Field.
Flocked from various parts of the world, the faithful who visited the holy place guarded by the Franciscans joined the friars to commemorate the announcement of the angel to the shepherds. While they were guarding their flocks during the night – recounts the Gospel – the angel appeared to them and announced that on that day, in Bethlehem, the Savior was born.
