Dedication of the Holy Sepulcher: death has been defeated

Like every year on July 15th, the friars of the Custody of the Holy Land recalled the dedication of the Basilica of the Holy Sepulcher, performed by the Crusaders for the first time in 1149.

“We pray to experience Peter’s same astonishment before the empty tomb.” The homily of the Custos of the Holy Land, Father Francesco Patton, touched the hearts of those present on the occasion of the Feast of Dedication of the Holy Sepulcher.

Like every year, on July 15th, the Friars of the Order Minor recalled the consecration of the altar of the church, performed for the first time by the Crusaders in 1149, 50 years after the conquest of Jerusalem, in spite of the original consecration of the Basilica which took place in 335.
