Exaltation of the Holy Cross celebrated in front of the Calvary

The celebration brought together the Franciscan community, pilgrims and local Christians at the Calvary, in front of the place where the Cross of Christ was placed.

The liturgy of the Church dedicates some moments of the liturgical calendar to the memory of the main symbol of Christianity.

On September 14, in the Western and Eastern Christian Churches, Catholics celebrate the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The Feast was founded in the fourth century, when, according to tradition, the Cross of Christ was discovered by the Emperor Constantine’s mother, St. Helena, who built the basilica of the Holy Sepulcher.

Inside, at the altar of the Latin Calvary Chapel, the celebration brought together Catholics in front of the place that commemorates the death of Christ.
