The Maronites celebrate the Feast of St. Maron

On the first weekend of February, the Church celebrated the feast of St. Maron, a hermit priest who founded the Maronite church. For the occasion, the ‘Year of Martyrdom and Martyrs’ was announced.

The Maronite Monastery is located among the narrow streets of the old city of Jerusalem, near the Holy Sepulcher. In this sacred place, Mons. Moussa El Hage presided over a mass in honor of St. Maron.

The bishop celebrated together with the authorities of the Latin Church and the Orthodox Church. In his homily, he stressed the importance of unity. The children of St. Maron, he added, are specifically gathered here to pray, hoping that one day peace and harmony on this earth could finally become a reality.
